One of my favorite investment platforms is M1 Finance. I think the reason I like M1 Finance so much is that it offers a way to create a balanced stock portfolio which is extremely important in investing. You do not want to be overexposed in one stock, one industry or one sector. But that can be hard.
One way to create a balance is by investing in index funds. But if you really want more control over your investment portfolio, and pick your own stocks, you can do so by creating a pie with M1 Finance.
Which is exactly what I did.
In November 2018, I opened an account with M1 Finance and funded it with $500. I added 11 companies to my pie, with a focus on blue-chip stocks that offered dividends. I saw some gains and was hooked on the platform.
So I decided to keep funding my account with just $15 a week. I wanted to show people that you don’t need a lot of my money to invest. And using a company like M1 Finance, which lets you buy fractional shares in companies, you really can invest with any amount of money.
